[ad_1]

Our university offers international dormitories where both Japanese and international students reside, fostering an international community both on and off campus where students can develop their independence, sense of responsibility, and diverse values.

Each dorm is conveniently located for academic and club activities, allowing students to enjoy safe and comfortable student life. We interviewed Laura, a Global BBA student who joined NUCB in Spring 2023. She shares insightful insight into her life in Japan and Meito Dormitory and offers practical advice on transportation options to NUCB and shares essential tips for budget effectively while living in a dorm.

Friendly and welcoming

I like dorm life. It allows me to meet and make friends with people from diverse backgrounds and nationalities, which gives me the chance to learn more about different cultures. The Meito community is very welcoming and friendly. The dorm is home to international and Japanese students, which leads to an exchange of cultures and perspectives that contributes to the warm atmosphere. Everyone is open to making friends and learning about other people’s cultures. Meito Hall is also often used for gatherings, which are always enjoyable and a great place to have fun with friends.

Ideal location

There are two stations near the Meito Dormitory, Kamiyashiro and Issha. You can reach either one in about 15-20 minutes on foot. From there, you take a train to Fujigaoka Station, change trains to Koen Nisshi Station, and then take a bus to NUCB. As a student, you can get a pass, which allows unlimited travel between two chosen stations. I chose Nagoya and Koen Nisshi as stations, which cost me 37,000 yen for three months. My personal journey is to walk to the station, take the trains, then the bus. I leave the dorm around 7:50 or 8:00 a.m. arriving at the NUCB around 9:05 a.m.

The area around the Meito Dormitory is quite convenient. The supermarket and the pharmacy are only 2 minutes walk from the dormitory. Downtown Nagoya is 17 minutes away by train, and there are plenty of restaurants and karaoke spots around the dorm to visit in your free time.

Advice for juniors

When moving into the dorm, you need to consider the cost of necessities not provided, such as a mattress, blankets, pillows, pots, pans, and toiletries. If you are planning to move to Meito, also consider buying a bicycle to get to the station faster.

NUCB has a unique scholarship system for student dormitories as one of its student support programs. The scholarship is available to all students, whether applying in Japan or overseas, students can enter the dorm from 10,000 yen per month.
