The government of Punjab has announced that it is easing more COVID-19 restrictions statewide as the coronavirus situation has improved significantly. According to the directive, the weekend and night curfew will be removed, while people who have taken at least one dose of the vaccine will be allowed to visit bars, cinemas, gymnasiums and shopping centers, news agency YEARS reported.
The chief ministers’ office added that increasing vaccine supply is essential and opening up sectors requires stakeholders to have a single dose. The state used the stock without waste and vaccinated 83 lakh-eligible people. He used over 6 lakh doses in one day.

COVID-19 update in Punjab
The death toll from COVID-19 in Punjab rose to 16,157 on Thursday with 11 additional deaths, while 229 new cases brought the number of infections to 5,97,195, according to a medical bulletin published here.
The number of active cases stands at 1,927, he said. The new deaths were reported in several districts, including Amritsar, Faridkot and Ferozepur, according to the bulletin.
Among the new cases, Jalandhar reported 29 cases, followed by 26 in Patiala and 17 in Fazilka, he said.
With 246 recoveries, overall recoveries reached 5,79,111, according to the bulletin.
