Montreal Police Investigate Daytime Car Shooting in Saint-Léonard – Montreal

Police are investigating a shameless shooting in Montreal’s Saint-Léonard borough during dinner time on Thursday.

Montreal police spokesperson Manuel Couture said a 911 call reporting gunshots arrived just after noon.

Agents were dispatched to the scene at Caf Sorrento on Jean-Talon Street East near the Angevins intersection.

Testimonies collected by the police indicate that a person in a car fired at another person.

Couture said the suspect and target fled the scene.

Police, however, located a man nearby with upper body injuries, but Couture said he did not appear to have been targeted by the shooter.

“The man was injured, possibly by shrapnel,” he said, adding that it was not clear whether the shards were glass from a broken window, coffee, cement or something else.

It is not known whether the intended target was injured in the incident. Police have yet to locate the individual.

Police found a cartridge case and say the impact is visible on a nearby building.

A perimeter was established on the spot to allow the investigation. A K9 unit will help officers and investigators search the area for clues.

No arrests were made.
