Team tennis will lead 1-1 in matches on Monday

On Monday, August 4, Team Tennis will host two DFW schools in their first matches of the year.

Not only that, the above-mentioned matches are the SSISD team’s first competition of the school year.

Team Tennis head coach Martinez said the matches went very well.

His team lost their first match to Sherman because his student athletes were only able to win five or six matches, according to the Team Tennis coach.

It turned around a lot when the second match came later in the afternoon, compared to Denison.

Coach Martinez said his team turned it over a great deal and brought in a win when the Wildcats won 10 games in Denison nine.

The team’s tennis coach said he was very impressed with his team’s performance.

Coach Martinez, who was compromised in the majority of the subclasses, said many matches, such as those held on Monday, are constantly building experiences for their team because they still have a lot to learn.

Fortunately, however, the team tennis coach said he relied on several upper classes to show leadership throughout the rough season.

During the first match against Sherman, coach Martinez told his players that they need to keep their heads up and keep working.

According to coach Martinez, one of the keys to a successful team is the ability to stay positive and continue to support their teammates even in the face of defeat. He says such a family environment can bring a similar young team to new heights.

It will be in cases where members of his upper class provide critical leadership during the fall.

Coach Martinez said he is excited about this team and the future. He also said several freshmen will be heard here in Sulfur Springs “for years to come.”

That would not be possible without the foundation that coach Martinez has set for his time in Sulfur Springs. That and amazing support and ongoing outsourcing not only to student athletes, their parents, but also to the SSISD administration.

The tennis center has a modern facility and, combined with future plans, to offer covered courts at the SSISD sports complex (the only one of its kind between Texarkana and Dallas), which has added Sulfur Springs as a destination for novice tennis players.

However, Coach Martinez and his team are not ready yet, as they will be playing four more schools before the start of the fall semester on August 18th;

• at Mesquite Poteet, Monday, Aug. 9 at 9 p.m.
• At Bullard High School on Wednesday, August 11 at 9 p.m.
• against Greenville, Thursday, Aug. 12 at 4 p.m.
• and finally at Tyler High on Tuesday, Aug. 17 at 5 p.m.
