Donald passed away peacefully at Lanark Lodge on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at the age of 89 and was reunited with his late wife Elizabeth Betty. He is the devoted father of Dawn (the late Bob) Palmer, Vicky (the late Gerry) Findlay (Brian Baker), Rick (Dorothy) Oakes and Janie (Earl) Kerr. Donald is the beloved grandfather of Shaun (Christine), Cory (Nicole), Derek (Laura), Chris (April), Nicole (Mike), Donny (Mel), Katlyn (Cory), Katie (Tim) and Billy, and the great -grandfather of Amelia, Olivia, Brogan, Ellie, Jack, Gray, Payton, Gage, Hailey, Lennox, Macie, Abbie, Morgan, Chael, Emmett and Adrian. The passing of Donalds marks the end of a generation, he joins his brothers in paradise; Harold (Win), Eleanor (Gord McMillan), June (Ken Bygrove), Bill (Betty), Shirley (Carl Davis) and Carl (Marg). Donald is beloved referred to as Gramps and will be sad to miss his many friends at Last Hunting Camp as well as many nephews, nieces, family, friends and neighbors. The Donald Oakes family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to all the staff, nurses and doctors of Lanark Lodge for all their care and support.

A private family service will be held. Interment will take place at Elmwood Cemetery. In honor of Donald, memorial contributions to the Diabetes Association or the Lanark County Community Home Support will be appreciated by the family.
