Brooks Koepka has played in the previous two Ryder Cups with only an American win in 2016 at home and a defeat in 2018 outside Paris. While this figure may sound small, Koepka has taken advantage of his career – it has simply been a devastating ball over the last four years of the game’s greatest stages. He won four major championships in four years and came for the first time at the 2017 US Open.

This year alone, Koepkas participated in three of the four major events. He failed surgery at the Masters in April when he was treated for a permanent knee injury in the terrain of Augusta National. But he recovered with a T2 finish at the PGA Championship, the T4 US Open, and in July, he added to the T6 at the Royal St. Georges Open Championship.

Still, Koepka says he’s been disappointed with that record in the last handful of years, including 2021, because he seems to be giving a few opportunities to glide. It’s going to be the same patience that makes him show a huge role on Captain Steve Strickers ’American team.

Swagger. Fan support. Determination. Mainstream eyeballs. Ability to appear in big moments.

All of the above are traits where pro-American galleries shout in favor of Koepkas. He has become a huge personality on the PGA tour in recent years, and his ability to speak what he thinks has kept him both casual and mainstream sports fans. Increase his ability to hit stunning shots in huge moments, and there’s nothing sad about Team USA produced by Koepka.

Koepkas had previously been paired with Dustin Johnson, but this partnership may have passed; if they played together, it probably wouldn’t be more than one match.

Koepka often played with Brandt Snedeker in the 2016 Ryder Cup, but hell has to find a replacement with Sneds in this Cup. Tony Finau and Daniel Berger would be two names that are likely to deserve attention: Koepka played twice with Finau in the 2018 Ryder Cup and paired with Berger in the 2017 Presidents Cup in Liberty National.

His veteran status also allows him to request matings directly.

First, you’re a little shy and don’t want to say anything and get started wrong, but now I’m definitely more comfortable with guys, especially captains and vice commanders, because it’s been pretty much the same types in recent years.

I can definitely express my opinion or with whom I should play, or strategy or the like. It has certainly made it a lot easier.

This American team is getting new blood, so don’t be surprised to see Koepka play with someone no one expected.

Koepka has a career-breaking record of 4-3-1 in the Ryder Cup. He is a draw 2-2-0 in four balls and a flat 1-1-0 in four. He has not yet lost individual matches and leads 1-0-1.

Don’t put too many stocks in these numbers. Winning is hard, even for those who are used to winning. Anything over .500, especially when playing on the losing side in 2018, is a great record.

Koepka calls the call early and often this year on the Whistling Straits, and it’s a good bet that he’ll leave town after winning more than his stake.
