No. 6 The field hockey opens the season with a win

EWING, NJ The No. 6 TCNJ Field hockey team scored two goals in the second half and returned against the Catholic on Thursday afternoon at the TCNJ Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex. With their victory, Lions have now won seven consecutive season opening matches.

TCNJ were left behind 1-0 when Katie Cusumano blocked the shot after a penalty angle of 2:48 in the second period. The situation remained the same after halftime.

Jess Hatch leveled the goal with a goal on the right side in the third quarter. Hatch was a rookie rookie in his first-year freshman season, and his first goal of the season scored just over five minutes into the third.

Carly Cole broke the draw early in the fourth set and made a corner kick to Lions 2-1. TCNJ suspended the Catholic for the remaining fourth to earn the victory.

Lions defeated Cardinals, 10-4.

TCNJ will return to operations on Saturday when it will host Juniata at 1 p.m.
