The senior center earns a weekly honor in their first match in the middle after a change of guard

Rest home Luke Fortner earned the Southeast Conference offensive line of week honors in his first early career in the middle, the league announced Tuesday.

Fortner, a four-year letter winner and “Super Senior” from Sylvania, Ohio, received the first weekly honor of his career when he moved into a guard center this season.

Fortner, a 6-foot-6, 297-pound, shone in his starting role, a total of four knockdown blocks, eight blocks at the attacking point, and he didn’t allow a kick. Fortner and the “Big Blue Wall” helped the UK collect 564 yards of total offense in a 45-10 victory over ULM, paving the way for the UK to get a 300-yard passerby, two 100-yard receivers and a 100-yard rush in the same game for the first time since 2006.

Fortner shared the honor with Texas A&M’s Kenyon Green, who won the Kent State season opener.

Fortner has played 43 career matches and 24 starts on the offensive line. Outside the field, he graduated in December 2019 with a degree in mechanical engineering and just graduated with a master’s degree in mechanical engineering and plans to graduate in December. In addition, Fortner began his master’s degree in economics in June at the prestigious Gatton College of Business and Economics in the UK. He is about to graduate with an MBA in May 2022. He was named a member of the CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team, received honors from the league media and Athlon Sports with third-team All-SEC honors and his watch list. to the esteemed William V.

Kentucky will open the SEC game on Saturday, Sept. 11, as it hosts Missouri at 7:30 p.m. on the ET SEC Network and UK Sports Radio Net.
