MPHA bag virgin national inter-academy hockey title

The first Junior Boys Inter-Academy National Hockey Championship 2021 was held under the joint auspices of the Hockey Indian and Sports and Youth Welfare Department at Major Dhyanchand Hockey Stadium in Bhopal. Teams from as many as 28 of the country’s best hockey academies took part in the championship played on the new astronaut hockey field. The hosts Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy (MPHA) won the championship on Wednesday. MPHA won the championship, winning a convincing 3-1 from Raja Karan Hockey Academy, Karnal, Haryana at a very important summit.

Both teams showed excellent performances in the first quarter of the match but failed to score a goal. In the second quarter, Olympic Samir Dad, coach of the MP Hockey Academy, informed the team of a few tactics. MP Hockey Academy made the most of tactics with two goals and moved to a nice 2-0 lead. The awards ceremony was held in the presence of Yashodhara Raje Scindia, Minister of Sports and Youth, and Pullela Gopichand, the Indian badminton coach who received the Padma Shri Award. Gopichand congratulated the winners and second-placed teams and called the match a high standard. He said that not only do players contribute to the success of each team, but also support staff play a significant role. In particular, this is the Academy’s second consecutive title. Previously, the MP Hockey Academy had achieved the first Hockey India Sub-Junior Boys Inter-Academy National Hockey Championship.
