Danube Houle thought he had lost his goal.
The University of Maine’s second-year right-back striker had scored 31 goals in 46 games in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League’s Flin Flon Bombers in the 2019–2020 season and added three goals in four playoff games.
But he did not score any goals in his 16 matches in the season 2020-21 and played seven games without one this season.
Houle eventually survived both UMaine goals for UConn in a 3-2 loss and scored a goal in every match at Boston College last weekend before adding the winner of the match to the penalty shootout, even though the goals scored in the penalty shots are not counted in the stats.
He now has four goals from his last five matches when he played against UMass Lowell at the Cross Insurance Arena in Portland on Saturday at 5 p.m.
– Last year, I didn’t know if I would make any more goals. I felt like I had lost it. It feels good to be able to do it again this year, Houle said. – The first goal lifted the weight off my shoulders. It felt good and boosted self-confidence. I feel like I can score a goal in every game.

Houle hopes his goal series continues against the River Hawks.

The team expects to play in Portland this weekend.
“It’s always fun,” said Dawe, who is 2-0 in Portland. “It’s a different landscape. You don’t have that many students. It’s more of a fan community. But it’s been really good both times when I’ve played there.
Most of Portland’s games have been non-conference, but this is a Hockey East competition.

UMaine is 1-9-2 in the overall standings, 1-6-1 in Hockey East and will face the country’s 15th team in UMass Lowell (7-2-2, 5-1-0).
“It’s going to be a great test for us. They’re a really good team and Norm Bazin is one of the best coaches in the country,” Barr said.
Lowell has Andre Lee (8 goals, 2 assists), Carl Berglund (2 & 7) and Lucas Condotta (4 & 4) and defender Ben Meehan (3 & 3) and goalkeeper Owen Savory (6-1-1, 1.24) . goals against average, 0.947 percent rebound).
