Investigation continues into allegations against Talawanda staff member

An investigation into allegations made last month accusing a member of staff at Talawanda Middle School of improperly touching a female student is still ongoing, Oxford police said.

In early December, Talawanda Schools spokesperson Holli Morrish released a statement which read: “On December 1, a student reported unprofessional behavior by an educator in TMS. As a result, an investigation was opened and the employee was placed on paid administrative leave.

Oxford Police Lt. Lara Fenning said on Tuesday the department’s investigation into the alleged incident was continuing.

Fenning declined to comment further.

Morrish said on Tuesday that there was “no new update regarding the Talawanda Middle School employee.”

“There is always an open investigation. The employee is not at work, ”she said.

According to an Oxford Police incident report obtained by The Journal-News, the complainant’s allegation was made on December 1, triggering an investigation by the police and the Talawanda School District.

Police said in their initial report that they were investigating a sexual misconduct complaint that allegedly occurred at 1 p.m. on December 1 at Talawanda Middle School at 4030 Oxford Reily Road.

“On December 1, a student reported being inappropriately touched by a member of school staff,” noted the Oxford police report, which was heavily drafted and did not include others. details of the alleged incident.

Talawanda Schools serve students from Oxford and surrounding communities near the western border of Butler County.
