It all happened at work on Oklahoma football day. During the eight hours of Monday this week, Sooners had lost a starting game builder to the transfer portal, and several hours later grabbed another.

On Monday night’s UCF transfer, Dillon Gabriel announced his commitment to Oklahoma. Just two weeks before, Gabriel had committed to UCLA.

Gabriel announced on social media that he will move to the University of Oklahoma, changing his UCLA promise after quarterback Caleb Williams entered the Sooners transfer portal.

Born in Hawaii, the gunman has developed into one of the best quarter builders in the country. Sooners managed to get a gem that was easily the best quarterback on the portal.

Gabriel brings experience to Norman. In 2019, he started every game at UCF as a quarterback as a freshman. He threw 3,653 yards, 29 touchdowns and seven cuts. As a second-year 2020 student, Gabriel threw 3,570 yards, 32 TDs and 4 INTs.

The beginning of 2021 was quite a blow to Gabriel’s career. The younger quarterback fractured his left clavicle, leaving him on the sidelines for most of the season. Gabriel was able to play the first three games of the season and finished 814 yards, with nine touchdowns and three abductions.

Gabriel was born and raised in Mililan, Hawaii, and attended Mililan High School. The 6-foot, 200-pound quarterback was originally a deputy guard in his first year at UCF in 2019. He took the reins in the middle of the first game of the season and started the last 12 UCF games.

Gabriel continued in the starting role in the 2020 season and led the Knights to a 6-4 record. This raised high expectations for the next season. However, Gabriel’s 2021 season derailed as he suffered an end-of-season injury in the third match against Louisville.

The news of Gabriel’s arrival in Oklahoma could be a sign of the end of Caleb Williams ’Norman stay. Earlier on Monday, Williams announced he was moving to a transfer portal to explore his options. Many read that he is not happy with his current situation now that Lincoln Riley, the coach who recruited him to the OU, was gone.

It’s hard to realize that Gabriel would suddenly give up his promise to UCLA and decide to come play for OU if he thought he was a deputy.

Gabriel comes with confidence and meets his former attack coordinator, Jeff Lebby. Lebby was UCF’s attack coordinator in 2019 and a quarterback coach the previous year in 2018.

A veteran game builder has three years left to qualify if he decides to use everything. Gabriel throws from the left, which has been extremely rare for quarterback players who have played in Oklahoma. However, the last time this was the case, it went pretty well. Another southern paw, Josh Heupel, led the Sooners to their last national championship in the 2000 season.

We are still awaiting Williams ’decision to return to Oklahoma or move on to another championship nominee. No matter what decision he makes, Sooner fans should be excited to add Gabriel. “They say life is more of a gamble than throwing a dice … DIMETIME” Gabriel tweeted on Monday night.
