4.4 magnitude earthquake hits Batangas

METRO MANILA (CNN Philippines, Jan. 23) – A 4.4-magnitude earthquake hit Calatagan City in Batangas Sunday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology reported.

State seismologists said the tectonic quake was recorded at 6:07 a.m., hitting 19 kilometers from Calatagan with a depth of 113 kilometers.

The agency also said this was the aftermath of a 6.6-magnitude earthquake that hit the municipality on July 24, 2021.

The intensity of the machines was also recorded in these areas:

Density III – Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro; Calatagan, Batangas

first density – the city of Tagaytay; Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro

Phivolks said there were no consequences or damages foreseen.
