Mens Tennis secures eight wins on day two of the Commodore Invitational

Nashville Texas Men’s Tennis Secured eight wins, including seven in singles and one in doubles, in 10 matches on the second day of the Commodore Invitational at the Currey Tennis Center on Saturday.

The wins put the Longhorns in position to play for the title in three draws, including the top draw in both singles and doubles. Junior Siem Woldeab will be involved in both after posting two more ranked singles wins, one of which was against a top-10 opponent. They downed No. 9 Tyler Stice of Auburn, 6-3, 6-1, to move on to the Flight A East final after also defeating No. 91 Nate Bonetto of Florida, 6-1, 6-2 in the quarterfinals. They will next face No. 37 Toby Samuel of South Carolina in the final.

Woldeab also combined with junior Eshan Talluri to reach the Doubles Green Draw East Finals with a 6-2 win over Marcus Ferreira and Joubert Klopper of Vanderbilt. They will square off against another pair of Commodores for the title in Nathan Cox and Michael Ross.

Talluri also had a successful day in singles with two wins to make it to the Flight C West Finals against Michael Deames of Vanderbilt. Talluri first defeated Gordon Whitwell of Ole Miss, 6-4, 6-4, in the quarterfinals before Downing Rohan Sachdev of Georgia Tech, 6-2, 6-4, in the semifinals.

Junior Evin McDonald also collected two Flight C East wins, first over Lucas Da Silva of Florida, 1-6, 6-1, 6-3, then versus the 1 seed Will Nolan of Auburn, 6-4, 6-2, to reach that flight’s final versus 2 seed Marcus Ferreira. McDonald and partner senior Nevin Arimilli fell to Andres Martin and Rohan Sachdev, 6-4, in doubles of the Red Draw East semifinal and close out play in a 3-4 match versus Siim Troost and Macsen Sisamof Vanderbilt.

Arimilli will also play in the singles Flight B North final against Siim Troost of Vanderbilt after dropping in his first match of the day to 2 seed No. 34 Axel Nefve of Florida, 6-2, 6-1, but rebounding his second contest with a win over Cox, 7-5, 6-7 (2), 1-0 (5).
