Goals, wants, needs in 2023 for CFP Top 25 teams

Christmas is here, and that means many of the top 25 college football teams will soon be playing in their bowl games — a few already have — to wrap up their 2022 campaigns. It also means the early signing period has just passed, and recruiting never ends in college football these days thanks to the NCAA transfer portal and more. The portal can be a double-edged sword at times, but it certainly makes it easier than ever to meet the needs and goals of schools on the wish list by adding experienced talent looking for a new home.

As programs will soon begin preparing for the 2023 season, to-do lists will vary from school to school. Some already filled virtually all of their needs during the early signing period — including high school prospects and transfers — while others still have work to do. A handful of schools are still not awaiting NFL Draft decisions from top players, making things even more uncertain.

In the spirit of the holiday season, we went through the wish lists for every program that ranked in the final College Football Playoff Top 25 earlier in the month. Every school has at least something they wish for this Christmas, from special station needs to big goals for those who have already received what they need.
