Quinnipiac shuts out Wisconsin women’s hockey in game two due to division

Catie Boudiette made 34 saves and No. 4 Quinnipiac women’s hockey shut out Wisconsin 3-0 over the weekend.

It’s the first win in program history for the Bobcats against Wisconsin, which took a 3-0 shutout in Saturday’s first game.

Nina Steigauf had a goal and an assist for QU (Kate Reilly also had a goal and Zoe Boyd added two assists for the Bobcats (18-3-0, 8-1-0 ECAC).) Boudiette earned her third straight shutout and fifth of the season.

Cami Kronish had 18 saves for the Badgers (16-3-1, 12-1-1 WCHA).

Reilly opened the scoring at 1:38 of the first period during a delayed penalty with the extra forward on the ice. The blue-liner collected the puck at the point and sent a wrist shot for the seeing eye.

The second period came and went with both goaltenders standing tall, especially Boudiette, who stopped all 11 Wisconsin shots.

Steigauf made it 2-0 just 1:29 into the third power play. Boyd cut off a Badgers clearance attempt at the point and sent it to Steigauf, who made a shot as he fell to the ice.

The Badgers went 0-2 on the power play, making for an 0-3 weekend. QU went on day 1-2.

Wisconsin returns to action next weekend when they host WCHA rival Minnesota Duluth. Game 1 is Friday at 2 p.m. ET.

Meanwhile, Quinnipiac will face conference foe Harvard outside in Boston at Fenway Park to begin the women’s Frozen Fenway doubleheader. Puck-drop on Friday is set for 3:00 PM ET.
