Former Pakistan coach Mickey Arthur is likely to take over the Men In Green coaching duties again, but this time with a twist. According to reports in Pakistani news agencies, Arthur will work with the team mostly online but will join them in person for the ODI World Cup in India.
In the meantime, he will continue to work for Derbyshire County Cricket Club as their full-time coach, the reports added. The Pakistan Cricket Board will appoint Arthur’s assistant to take charge of the team on the field in his absence.
Arthur is known as a successful coach who has led South Africa, Australia, Pakistan and Sri Lanka on the international stage.
He joined Derbyshire ahead of the 2022 season and helped them turn their form around in their first campaign.
He achieved a club-record nine wins in the 2022 Vitality Blast group stage.
A few days ago, PCB chief Najam Sethi had said in a press conference that Arthur’s return as Pakistan coach was highly doubtful.
I want to make it clear that I have direct negotiations with Miki and I think 90 percent of the conversations. We have covered many areas and will soon be able to share some good news with you. If Mikki comes, he will form his own team and we will just find out how much we have to pay them and this matter will be resolved in 2-3 days, Sethi told a press conference.
