Donald Trumps Post-Arraignment Plans Apparently Include Candlelit Dinners and Selfies With High-Dollar Donors

Donald Trump will waste no time before trying to rid his campaign coffers of the news of his arraignment. The now twice-impeached former president is scheduled to hold a fundraiser hours after his scheduled appearance in federal court in Miami. The previously scheduled Tuesday night fundraiser at the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey, is still set to take place, the Trump campaign confirmed to NBC News over the weekend, and will reportedly feature a private candlelight dinner for backers who bundle at least $100,000. According to Politico, the invitation also states that lower donors can expect photo opportunities with Trump and a VIP reception with elected officials and special guests.

The first of many donor events Trump plans to host around the country, his team reportedly expects to raise $2 million on Tuesday alone. And if the former president’s latest legal entanglement is any indication, that amount appears to be within reach: According to Politico, he raised a combined $15.4 million in the two-week period after he was arraigned in March on state felony charge in Stormy Daniels hush money case.

His upcoming arraignment, however, is federal. It stems from Trump’s alleged mishandling and retention of classified materials he stored at his Mar-a-Lago home after leaving the White House. The indictment was unsealed Friday, charging Trump with 37 counts of felonies, also accusing the former president of conspiracy to obstruct justice and lying to federal agents and investigators about documents.

Trump, whose actions are being investigated by Special Counsel Jack Smith, has denied any wrongdoing. The Biden administration’s ridiculous and baseless accusation of me with an armed injustice department will go down as one of the most heinous abuses of power in our nation’s history, he told the Georgia Republican convention in Saturday, in his first speech since the indictment.
