“The” Donald appears to be sure that he will be the well -known Donald in the coming years, as new data shows that the former president’s first name recorded low popularity in 2020.
A new report from the National Security Administration has included data on the most popular names for babies in 2020.
Although Donald isn’t exactly the most beloved name in recent years it started in 2019 as the 555th most popular name for men falling in 55th place to 610th in 2020.
No time since name records began in the 1880s has the name Donald become less popular.
Only 444 newborn babies were named Donald in 2020, compared to 507 in 2019 and 602 in 2017.
The name Donald rose to prominence at its peak in 1934. In that year, there were 30,408 boys and 110 girls given the traditional Celtic name.
After that peak, the name never really saw a prominent resurgence in popularity, saving for a slight bump in 2017, which was the year of Mr. Trump’s tenure.
The bump was short -lived, however, as the downward trend continued into the next year.
While no one wants to be the reason why a name is actively losing popularity, Donald Trump can take solace in the fact that the names of presidents tend to decline in popularity while they are in position.
The Huffington Post reported that the names Ronald, Richard, Gerald and George all declined to prominence when their respective presidents served in office.
Like Mr. Trump, the name Lyndon rose to prominence the year Lyndon Johnson sat down, but also like Mr. Trump, a breakdown began shortly after.
Another president is probably the only reason a name landed on the board.
Because SSA data only tracks the names of babies if at least five have been named in a given year, the name Barack did not appear on the list until 2007, when former senator Barack Obamas is rising in the Democratic Party.
Like his predecessors, his name also lost its luster as his administration continued.

Where Mr. Trump probably can’t rest is in the fact that even the names of his children and family members have risen to prominence.
In 2017, Melania was one of the fastest rising baby names for girls. In 2018, 233 girls were named. In 2019, it dropped to 208. Then in 2020 the popularity dropped again to 190.
The names Tiffany, Eric and Jared all fell out as well. The only members of the Trump clan whose names seem to have survived the popularity cleanup are Ivanka whose popularity rose slightly from 2019 to 2020 and Barron, the youngest of the Trumps.
In 2020, there were 134 babies named Barron, which is an increase from 2019, in which 107 were born. Both Barron and Ivanka rose to popularity in 2017 the same year that “Donald” got a lump along with 165 girls named Ivanka and 136 boys taking the name Barron.
