ST. LOUIS – Paul Goldschmidt hit the game-finished homer in the ninth inning and drove in both St. Louis races as the Cardinals beat Miami Marlins 2-1 on Tuesday night.
St. Louis has won two in a row against Marlins, dropping nine out of ten.
Miami lost the third straight.
Goldschmidt, who had a binding RBI-Singlet in the sixth, led the ninth and dropped after 1-2 before drilling a 98 mph fast ball from Yimi Garcia (3-5) to the right midfield for his sixth career walk away from home. The former also came against Marlins in June 2019 to give St.Louis a 2-1 win in 11 innings.
Alex Reyes (4-2) worked unbeaten in the ninth.
Miami took a 1-0 lead at Adam Duvall’s third run. He drove in Starling Marte, who walked to start the turn
Goldschmidt equalized the game with two, two strikes, sixth. Pinch player Jose Rondon started the rally with a one-off record.
Miami starter Trevor Rogers gave one run and three hits over six innings. He hit six and walked one. Rogers have had opponents at one time or none at all in the start of this 14-season season.
St. Louis starter Kwang Hyun Kim also gave up one run and three hits in six innings. He hit six and walked five.

Miami’s first supporter Jesus Aguilar has hit all 12 of his home fields this season. She is the first player to do so since Jose Abreu hit his first 13 housewives on the way to the Chicago White Sox in 2017.
TRAINERS ‘ROOM
Marlins: OF Corey Dickerson was taken to the 10-day injured list with bruises on his left leg that ran to bases by running bases in a 6-4 loss to Atlanta on Sunday. Jesus Sanchez was called from Triple-A Jacksonville to replace Dickerson.
Cardinals: INF Tommy Edman was a late scratch due to right tension. He is every day.

St.Louis RHP Johan Oviedo (0-2, 5.72 ERA) will face RHP Sandy Alcantara (4-5, 3.39) in the final of three games on Wednesday afternoon. Oviedo makes his first appearance against the Marlins. He gave four well-deserved runs in a 4 1/3 innings, with the Chicago Cubs losing 8-5 at Wrigley Field on Friday. Alcantara has allowed two or fewer runs in five of its last five starts.
