Tennys Sandgren is one of the most successful athletes in Tennessee men ‘s tennis history.
Now he can add the Olympics to his long list of accomplishments. On Thursday, the U.S. Tennis Association announced it would choose stars to represent the U.S. at the Tokyo Olympics, and Sandgren was one of 12 men and six women.

Gallatin-based Sandgren competes in the singles and is also partnering with Olympic Austin Krajicek for the first time in the singles. He also has the potential to participate in mixed pair events, although the USTA has not yet reported these pairings.
Sandgren is on the AT 68 list. The peak of his career is 41 ..
He signed with Vols in 2010 and spent two seasons in the program before becoming a professional. He was named a second-year student to the ITA All-American and All-SEC teams after releasing a 30-3 record and an anion semifinal appearance in doubles.
He has done Australian Open semi-finals twice, in 2018 and 2020, and also holds the ATP doubles title in 2019 in Auckland, New Zealand.
