Donald Lee Shifflett Sr.

On July 17, 2021, Donald Lee Shifflett Sr., of Dale City, Virginia, died unexpectedly.

Don is 78 years old and was born in Harrisonburg, VA. He was the first in his family to graduate from High School and get a college degree. He served in the U.S. Army and then served as a civilian Department of Defense employee for 20+ years. Don retired from the Civil Service as a Chief Executive Officer for the U.S. Marine Corps Operations & Systems Command. Dons ’wife of 35 years is Yen, and she enjoys spending time with him, his chihuahuas and solving Sudoku puzzles. He can fix anything around the house, built a successful side business, and spent most of his remaining time helping and educating his family, friends and local community.

Besides his wife, Don is survived by his daughter Michelle, his sister Nancy, three grandchildren: Jasper, Jessica and Sara, three great -grandchildren, and one who is on his way.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Janice Robinson, his son Donald Lee Jr., and three brothers Troy, Roy and Roger.

A Memorial Service will be held at Mountcastle Turch Funeral Home, 4143 Dale Blvd, Dale City, VA 22193 on Monday from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The funeral will be private. In exchange for flowers, memorial donations can be made to a charity option that supports military veterans.
