MAYVILL — Donald A. Sorgent, age 75, of Mayville passed away Thursday, Feb. 3, 2022 at UW Hospital in Madison.

A memorial Christian Burial Mass in memory of Donald will take place on Wednesday, Feb. 9 at 1:00 p.m. in St. Louis. Mary Catholic Church in Mayville with Rev. Fr. Tom Biersack is in charge. The visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. service time at the church in Mayville. The military awards will be conducted by Mayville American Legion Post #69.

Donald was born the son of Anthony and Alice (Guse) Sorgent on December 9, 1946, at Beaver Dam. He graduated in 1965 of Mayville High School. Donald served honorably in his country in the U.S. Army in Vietnam.

He was united in marriage to Mary Lou Schultz on November 14, 1980. Donald was a member of St. Louis. Mary Catholic Church in Mayville. He worked as a welder and worked at Michael’s Pipeline, JF Ahern Co., Bullseye in Juneau, and also had his own welding business in a short time- Sorgie’s Weld Shop.

Donald loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and bird watching. He also loves to garden. With his family, they liked the time spent in their cabin in Butternut. He is a lifelong member of the Wisconsin Bow Hunters Association. Donald is also a member of Mayville American Legion Post #69. Family was the most important thing to Donald and he loved and valued the time with them, especially his grandchildren.

Donald is survived by his wife- Mary Lou of Mayville. His daughter, Nicole (Richard) Simon of West Bend. Her grandchildren: Lilliana, Amelia, and Roman. Her siblings: Richard (Marleen) Sorgent of Antiques, Gloria Schrab of Mayville, and Michael Sorgent of Horicon. Her brother-in-law- Joseph (Carol) Schultz of Beaver Dam. Her sisters -in -law: Mari Lynn (DuWanye) Griepentrog of Horicon and Cynthia Schultz of Montana. He was even survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws Alfred and Lorraine Schultz, brothers-in-law: Jerome Schultz, Fred Schultz, and Dennis Schrab.
