Stock/Stock Market LIVE Updates: Benchmark stock indices on the BSE and National Stock Exchange (NSE) extended their opening gains, reaching new all-time highs in morning trading on Monday amid positive signals in global markets.
The S&P BSE Sensex rose 576.94 points (1.03 percent) to hit a new high of 56,701.66 in morning deals, while the Nifty 50 rose 167.75 points (1.00 percent) to cross the 16,800 mark and reaching a lifetime high of 16,872.95. Both indices had opened at new record highs earlier in the day.
Gains in the BSE benchmark during the morning session were led by Tata Steel, L&T, Bajaj Finance, Maruti Suzuki, Bharti Airtel and Axis Bank. On the downside, Tech Mahindra, Nestle India and HCL Technologies were slightly lower.
