BELLINGHAM, Wash. — First responders were dispatched to the parking lot of a retail business in the 1200 block of W Bakerview Road about 1:20pm, Sunday, March 13th, due to a report of an assault with a weapon.
Initial reports from the scene were that a person had been stabbed in the chest and Bellingham Police Department (BPD) were provided detailed descriptions of a suspect by radio.
Subsequent reports from witnesses were that a suspect was seen throwing an object into bushes while walking eastbound on W Bakerview Road.
Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office deputies joined BPD in setting up a perimeter to the east of where the stabbing had occurred. It was reported the perimeter extended into the Cordata neighborhood.

Click for more informationAfter some time, perimeter units were dismissed without having located the suspect.
The victim was transported to PeaceHealth St Joseph Medical Center by ambulance.
The Bellingham Police Department did not immediately respond to a request for details.
