Artex, an exchange for investing in works of art by the great masters, has been granted a license to operate a Multilateral Trading Facility (MTF) in Europe.
Artex will initially focus on works of art by the world’s greatest masters, from a period from the Renaissance to the twentieth century.
Each artwork will be held by a Luxembourg-based public limited company, the shares of which will be admitted to trading on Artex through an initial public offering (IPO).
Art shares have an initial par value of 100, with the goal of democratizing the fine arts market by enabling millions of people to invest in classical works of art.
The company has established relationships with exchange infrastructure service providers to ensure a seamless trading experience and a robust trading platform. SIX will provide clearing and settlement services as well as a market data feed. Bloomberg will provide market participants with its order management, risk and portfolio management systems. UnaVista, a company listed on the London Stock Exchange, will support Artex’s regulatory reporting tasks.
