TORONTO – Some of the most active companies trading Monday on the Toronto Stock Exchange:

Toronto Stock Exchange (20,676.74, down 16.41):

Royal Bank of Canada. (TSX:RY). Finance. Down $1.83, or 1.35 percent, to $133.47 on 16.9 million shares.

TC Energy Corp. (TSX:TRP). Energy. Down 89 cents, or 1.60 percent, to $54.89 on 10.9 million shares.

Suncor Energy Inc. (TSX:SU). Energy. An increase of 23 cents, or 0.56 percent, to $41.43 on 8.7 million shares.

Enbridge Inc. (TSX:ENB). Energy. An increase of 12 cents, or 0.23 percent, to $53.35 on 8.2 million shares.

Toronto Dominion Bank. (TSX:TD). Finance. Down 82 cents, or 0.98 percent, to $82.73 on 7.9 million shares.

Manilife Financial Corp. (TSX:MFC). Finance. An increase of six cents, or 0.23 percent, to $26.25 on 6.5 million shares.

Companies in the news:

Canadian National Railway Co. (TSX:CNR). Industrialists. An increase of $1.74, or 1.05 percent, to $168.27. Canadian National Railway Co. said it posted record sales in the first quarter due to a massive grain harvest and higher oil prices. After Monday’s bell, CN reported revenue of $4.31 billion for the quarter ended March 31, up 16 percent from $3.71 billion a year earlier. The Montreal-based company said first-quarter net profit rose to $1.22 billion from $918 million in the same period last year.

Waste Connections Inc. (TSX: WCN). Waste management. Down from $3.81, or 1.94 percent, to $192.55. Waste Connections Inc. said founder and executive chairman Ronald Mittelstaedt has returned to his role as CEO following Worthing Jackman’s departure from the top job. The solid waste services company said Jackman has also stepped down from its board of directors and withdrawn his name as a nominee at the company’s 2023 annual meeting. Mittelstaedt served as CEO from 1997 to July 2019, when he assumed the role of executive chairman at took itself.
