Crypto billionaire Vitalik Buterin gives his best advice on being a full-time digital nomad

As more people leave the office, interest in how to become a digital nomad grows.

Working remotely from another country is certainly appealing, but leaving your 9 to 5 life behind can be overwhelming. So, who better to ask to make the trip than an eternal digital nomad, Vitalik Buterin?

Buterin is the co-founder of Ethereum, a cryptocurrency invented in 2013, and the world’s youngest crypto billionaire. He is well known for traveling while working, often listing his place of residence as a Qantas airline.

Buterin opened an AMA on Twitter on Thursday, giving the 268 people he follows a chance to ask him a question. Unsurprisingly, many have asked about the crypto expert’s nomadic lifestyle.

No fixed address

In response to a question about the impact of the pandemic on him, Vitalik said he still does not have a permanent place of residence, moving more slowly and living in places for months at a time.

“I think I went from being a ‘fast nomad’ to a ‘slow nomad,’ Vitalik replied when asked about his lifestyle.

“I’m still going to be spending a lot of time in different places, but I prefer 1 to 2 months and not 2 to 4 days. “

According to Vitalik Buterin, what are the best places to be a digital nomad?

When asked about his favorite places to live, Buterin replied that there were a few places on his list.

Singapore and Toronto were his favorites for “an interesting mix of cultures and great parks”.

In another response, he said that much of the time spent in Singapore last year had changed him a lot.

“It was interesting to just… be alone and with my own thoughts for the first time in a decade,” the tech entrepreneur wrote.

Mexico was also on the list for its friendliness, food and, perhaps most importantly for a digital nomad, a welcoming government. Buterin said they are good at “not getting bored” about the purpose of your trip.

The hacker culture in Berlin has also put it on the list of its favorite places to live.
