Larry Fink, CEO of the world’s largest asset manager with $ 9.5 trillion in assets under management, Blackrock, answered a few questions about cryptocurrency, particularly bitcoin, in an interview with CNBC on Wednesday. .

He was asked if he was “still in Jamie Dimon’s category of ‘bitcoin is worthless'” or if he sees value in cryptocurrency. Dimon, CEO of global investment bank JPMorgan, said earlier this week: “I personally think bitcoin is worthless.” He also questioned the limited supply of the cryptocurrency.

The Blackrock executive responded:

I’m probably more on the Jamie Dimon camp. But I am fascinated by the interest of so many people. It’s fantastic. I like that more and more people are looking to invest in different things. I think this is a very good positive action.

Fink added, “I’m not a student of bitcoin and where it’s going to go. I can’t tell you if it’s going to go to $ 80,000 or zero.

However, the CEO said: “But I think there is a huge role for a digital currency. And I think it’s going to help consumers all over the world, whether it’s bitcoin or whatever, or more of an official government digital currency, a digital dollar – it will play out. “

The Blackrock executive further explained that he was fascinated by “the big new technology”. Noting that “it attracted so many people,” he said, “It’s fantastic to see how people have become so fascinated about it, that they are showing interest in it. If it’s going to go well in the long run, we’ll see. Fink concluded:

I see huge opportunities in a digitized cryptocurrency, a blockchain related currency, and that’s where I think it’s going and it’s going to create big winners and big losers.
