A crypto.com ad featuring Matt Damon goes viral ahead of his expected Super Bowl debut in February.
“There isn’t enough yuck in the world to describe Matt Damon advertising a Ponzi scheme,” said Carole Cadwalladr, a far-left Guardian writer.
Jason O. Gilbert, who works for The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, tried to play a joke by saying:
“MATT DAMON [striding through a futuristic room]: History is filled with brave men who spent $ 378,000 on a cartoon monkey.
The TL; DR of the ad for critics appears to be “Buy crypto or you’re a pussy”. Not many people seem to have bothered to say something nice, possibly because the ad speaks for itself.
An ode to the pioneers
“Fortune favors the brave” is not just about crypto and certainly not something as simple as buying crypto, but a cultural slogan for an entire generation.
The announcement is an ode to the pioneers, and to those of today at the very frontiers. Whether it’s in crypto, where we’ve had to fight many battles, or at the forefront of medicine like biohackers trying to tackle big pharma, or in the new space race.
The mockery of this advertisement by some also speaks of a cultural cluster that desperately wants to cling to mediocrity.
The slogan “fortune favors the brave” is an assault on certain priests who prefer stagnation, decline and regression. Because to move is to disrupt, and to disrupt creates new winners and losers.
The far left in particular seems to hate innovation. Everything must be awful for them, if they want to bring about communism. Capitalism cannot make things better, it cannot produce self-actualization.
The space race is a waste of money for them. Some of them have been so duped that they even speak of the unspeakable, that humanity as a whole is a kind of burden, a kind of problem.
However, there have always been those who try to control through negativity, with the power of the Church for a thousand years attesting to its success.
Yet there are and there will also be those who try to inspire optimism and ambitious dreams that not only can it be better, but that we can harness human ingenuity.
It’s very brave to be the second, especially when it’s so easy to be the first. It is very brave to throw away your education and start your own business. To quit your 9 to 5 job and try a startup. Putting your money in an investment that might not go anywhere just because it’s new and innovative, rather than just buying the old Google.
It is extremely courageous for these biohackers, who were the first to come up with a vaccine, to engage in pure science instead of the regulated rituals of corporate laboratories, especially when they have the skills to manage such company laboratories.
It’s also very brave of Desantis, and now Johnson too, to hold on in the face of a lot of pressure and a lot of uncertainty.
There is no greater bravery than the astronauts, to know your odds and still leap into the great unknown so that we can all gain knowledge.
There is also no greater cowardice than looking at those who risk so much and choosing to laugh. Instead, choose the old boring, the monotonous, the well-known and the chains of dogma.
This is why Matt Damon is not with them, but with the brave. Those who move the world forward. The ones who actually solve the problems. Those who, instead of looking to the government, look to themselves and the market to improve this complex world.
And his message is precisely what the United States needs to hear at this point. Because the land of the brave leads within these borders, from medicine to space.
It just so happens that it is the cryptos, with their ambitions and optimism, their dreams, that carry this tremendous message to all pioneers in all industries and across the world.
A message that says that it will not be those who throw stones from the greenhouses who will win, the priests have finally lost, because the future belongs to these brave pioneers. And so keep innovating, keep pushing the frontiers of man.
