Jack Dorsey’s small business platform Square, which was later renamed to Block last year, is said to be building a crypto mining system for Bitcoin miners. According to the company executive on Thursday, January 13, the team is now preparing to launch it in 2022.

The crypto conference is expected to attract 50,000 people and will run from Friday June 4 to June 6.

In a Bloomberg report, Block’s general manager of hardware, Thomas Templeton, said the company wants to create more mine sites that are efficient in all respects. They want to distribute it to target customers interested in crypto mining.

“We are interested because mining goes far beyond creating new Bitcoins. We see this as a long-term need for a fully decentralized and unlicensed future,” said the Block official.

Templeton added that the crypto-mining platform project would take place “in the open” and even alongside the entire community.

This news comes on top of a first clue teased by CEO Jack Dorsey in October 2021. According to the team behind Block, they are now looking for ways to provide users with more accessible mining tools.

Block prioritizes mining equipment

In addition, the payment company is considering the reliability of the equipment that will be used on the day of its launch. In addition, they also include the power consumption and the amount of noise that the tools will generate during the process.

Block’s main goal is to make Bitcoin accessible for mining, especially since the majority of users are at home right now.

As a result of this project, Dorsey previously said that Bitcoin could one day be one of the most dominant cryptocurrencies on the internet. As per the announcement, the former CEO of Twitter felt that this asset could dictate the global movement of money in the long term.

Upon leaving the social media platform, Dorsey was replaced by Parag Agrawal, the current boss of Twitter.

Along with his fixed plan to build a bitcoin mining system, Block is also interested in building his own crypto wallet for Bitcoin. As of last February, he was keeping a crypto asset worth $ 170 million.

Earlier this week, CoinDesk reported that Dorsey presented their proposal for the Bitcoin Developer Legal Defense Fund by email on Wednesday, January 12.

Last month, Tech Times reported that Block was the subject of a lawsuit over having a similar name and logo with another H&R block company. According to the report, the latter asked Dorsey to refrain from using his green square logo and identity.

The company involved said Block had “improperly” capitalized on the consumer trust and goodwill it established in 1955, the year H&R Block was founded.

H&R Block CEO Jeff Jones said the lawsuit will keep users from being confused about Block’s rebranding.
