FTX Bankruptcy Documents Show Tom Brady Owned Over 1 Million Shares In The Crypto Exchange

Tom Brady’s heavy investment in FTX is about to evaporate. New bankruptcy filings show the Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback owns more than 1.1 million common shares in the former cryptocurrency exchange, while his ex-wife and model Gisele Bndchen owns around 680,000, as previously reported by Bloomberg and Insider.

The NFL star and his then-wife have served as FTX brand ambassadors since 2021 and even appeared in a series of commercials for the swap (which really haven’t aged well). According to an estimate by Forbes, Bradys’ investment was valued at around $45 million, while Bndchens was worth around $25 million. In its report, Insider notes that during a typical bankruptcy proceeding, only bondholders are able to recoup some of their losses, while stock investors are typically wiped out.

Billionaire New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft and entrepreneur and Shark Tank star Kevin OLeary are among the other high-profile individuals listed as FTX shareholders. In December, OLeary told CNBC that he had lost all of the $15 million FTX paid him to become a spokesperson for the exchange.

FTX’s next bankruptcy hearing is happening right now in the District of Delaware Bankruptcy Court and is streaming live on YouTube. So far, FTX has picked up over $5 billion in different assets, including cash, liquid cryptocurrencies, and liquid investment securities. This does not include the additional $425 million in crypto the Bahamas Securities Commission is keeping and still does not represent all that FTX customers are owed.
