Donald Scott Advances at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics

Finally, after years of waiting and tireless training, former Eastern Michigan University notable Donald Scott made his Olympic debut in the triple jump. Represented in the United States, Apopka, Fla. Native finished the men’s triple jump qualifying round by placing sixth overall in a 17.01m jump.

Scott recorded his best walk of the day on his first attempt, reaching 17.01m. He followed it up with a solid jump of 16.43m on his second attempt, and chose to pass on his final test. His 17.01m was enough to finish fourth in his group and sixth in overall position to put him in the finals. Pichardo Pedro Pabloof Portugal walked the field, reaching a distance of 17.71m.

The former eight-time Mid-American Conference Champion owns a career-high bound 17.74m he set in 2019. This year, his best came at the Chula Vista Field Festival where he registered a 17.22m jump . Next up for Scott, he moves on to the final round of competition that takes place Wednesday, Aug. 4, at 10 pm ET.
