ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Comptroller Peter Franchot announced Tuesday that his office is accepting nominations for the 2021 William Donald Schaefer Helping People Awards.
Founded in 2012, the award honors the legacy of public service left by the late Mr. Shaefer, who served four terms as mayor of the City of Baltimore and two terms each as governor and guardian of Maryland. It is presented each year in each of Maryland’s 24 jurisdictions to individuals and organizations with an unwavering commitment to helping others and improving communities.
Recipients of the award will be selected based on their demonstration of community improvement, promptly responding to a citizen’s problem through effective government intervention, directly helping our most vulnerable populations, or promoting a public / private partnerships to improve the lives of fellow Maryland.
