WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) – A billboard at the intersection of Eastwood Road and Racine Drive caught the attention of drivers and worried some in Wilmington.

A photo depicting President Joe Biden eating ice cream in a photo of a helicopter in Afghanistan is part of a digital billboard in Wilmington. There is also a picture of Biden peaking through the blinds featured in the slideview of the ads.

The owner of Tedder Outdoor Advertising, the billboard operator, said someone anonymously dropped an envelope with money and instructions for the billboard inside.

The billboard attracted Former President Donald Trump’s son Donald Trump Jr. He posted a photo of the billboard on Instagram.

Sonya Patrick, a representative for the New Hanover County Democratic Party, said the money spent on the billboard could support a family trying to get stuck in Afghanistan.

“It’s not a ridiculous issue, it’s a very sensitive issue, and it shouldn’t be made ridiculous,” Patrick said. “Maybe that’s why people don’t put their name because it’s a part of their conscience if they have any kind of moral conscience, it lets them know.”

WWAY reached out to the New Hanover County Republican Party for a statement and GOP Chair Will Knecht said they did not want to comment.
