In statements given at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library on Thursday, Chris Christie talked about Donald Trump’s claim that he was cheated in the 2020 election, choosing, “Pretending we won when we lost is wasting time, energy and credibility ”(via Yahoo!).
In his speech denouncing Trump’s possible return to the national stage in 2024, Christie also said of the former president, “All these lies have harmed our country, our party and ourselves.” The potential Republican candidate further decides, “If the political requirement today for getting your support is to say a bunch of untrue things no, thank you.”
“No man, no woman, no matter what office they hold or wealth they acquire, is worthy of blind faith or obedience,” Christie continued, adding, “That’s not me, and that’s not who we are. Republicans, no matter who asks us to tie our future to a pile of lies. We deserve to be better than we will be misled by those who try to take or hold on to power. “
