Hackers Post Photo of Defecating Pig on Fake Trump Account

Hackers from Anonymous told The NYT that they created fake accounts on Trump’s Truth Social site. In a fake Trump account, they posted a photo of a filthy pig, the publication reported. “We had a fun time trolling it high in the sky,” said one of the hackers. LoadingSomething is loading.

Former President Donald Trump’s upcoming social-media site, Truth Social, was hacked just hours after the announcement of its launch.

Hackers claiming to be affiliated with the group Anonymous have created fake accounts for Trump and his former aide Steve Bannon on Truth Social, the network Trump announced Wednesday, The New York Times reported. Fake accounts have also been set up in the names of conspiracy theorist Ron Watkins and Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey.

The hackers posted a photo of a defecating pig on an account held by @donaldjtrump, the publication reported, with screenshots shared on Twitter.

The hackers told The Times that the hack was part of their “online war against hate.”

Trump said Wednesday that he is creating Truth Social through his new company, Trump Media & Technology Group, “to stand up to the tyranny of Big Tech.”

TMTG said the site will open to invitees in November and to the public in the first quarter of 2022. The app will be available for preorder in the Apple App Store, and people can join a waiting list.

That’s just enough for Anonymous hackers to gain access to the prerelease version of the Twitter-like app, Aubrey Cottle, a hacker affiliated with Anonymous, told The Times. The publication said it viewed screenshots confirming the hackers ’claims, and reported that the hackers gained access within two hours of Trump’s announcement of the site.

“We had a fun time trolling it high in the sky,” Cottle said.

He told the publication that the hackers then posted memes from fake accounts for public figures including Trump and former Vice President Mike Pence.

Someone else pointed out the weakness of the beta site as well.

Daily Dot reporter Mikael Thalen also said he gained access to the site and created an account using the @realdonaldtrump handle, while Washington Post reporter Drew Harwell said he created an account registered as @mikepence, who was eventually blocked by the site.

Within hours of the site’s announcement, TMTG app developers banned people from creating new accounts and closed the beta site.
