A year ago, on November 13, 2020, we said goodbye to our beloved father and grandfather, Don Crockett. In his 84 years with us, Don was the quintessential renaissance man as a teacher of martial arts, military conditioning, photography, and writing. In writing she found her true passion, going on to publish eight novels including the popular series Diana and Oh God It’s Wine, as well as numerous short stories and children’s books. Don did intensive research in the self-publishing industry to publish his own books and would eventually give numerous seminars and lectures on both writing and publishing. He is usually seen at his favorite local restaurants chatting with his neighbors about his latest project and handing out bookmarks of his published works. There was no faster smile on his face than to hear that someone enjoyed reading one of his books.

A proud Navy veteran, those who were pleased to meet Don knew him as a loud and funny man who was always ready for a “sea story”. He has a curious mind and an endless sense of adventure. There’s no time he’s not researching a new topic for his writing, working on his fishing boat, or planning his next adventure. He was a man who enjoyed people and people enjoyed him.

Dad once wrote, “The book will not be completed until the last page of the last hour and the last second is lived to the fullest”. Not only did he do that but he inspired each of us to reach our dreams and live a life that will make us happy. This past year without her laughs, imagination, and words of love has especially only shown us how lucky we are to have her in our lives for the time we did. We are comforted to know that he is reunited with the people he dearly loved who preceded him. We knew that when we met again we would find him at the biggest table in the place where drinks would flow, laughter would be loud, and stories would abound. We love and miss you Dad, now and always.
