Dr. Donald E. “Don” Sharp Jr.

HOLLIS CENTER – Dr. Donald E. “Don” Sharp Jr., 48, Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2021 at his residence with his family by his side.

Don was born in Morristown, NJ, on August 31, 1973, the son of Donald Sharp Sr. and Sherry Canova.

At a young age, Don moved from Toms River, New Jersey to Vermont where he graduated from Woodstock High School. He later graduated from the University of Vermont at Burlington and went on to earn a Master’s Degree in Forensic Anthropology from George Washington University.

In addition to his work, Don served in the U.S. Navy as a SEAL. After years of service and work as an anthropologist, he pursued a career in veterinary medicine. She attended Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine in Massachusetts, where she met her husband.

After graduating in 2014, Don practiced medicine in the Lewiston, Kennebunk area, and most recently at the Hollis Animal Clinic. He also taught ultrasound imaging as an instructor at the Sound Academy of Veterinary Imaging.

Don is also a Master Luthier and has owned and operated Sharp Guitars for many years.

He enjoyed fly-fishing, photography, and surfing. However, his greatest love in life is being a father to his two children.

Don is survived by his wife, Kathleen Ponzetti, son Caleb Sharp, and daughter Noelle Sharp of Hollis, his parents, Donald and Sherry Sharp, and his sister Heidi Sharp of East Baldwin , and nephew Jackson Scranton.

A private family service was held at Bear Hill Church in Holli.

Funeral will follow at Cedar Brook Cemetery in Limington.

The Rev. Susan Taylor will be the moderator.

A celebration of his life is planned for the spring.
