WASHINGTON, DC – A private plane carrying former president Donald Trump was forced to make an emergency landing last weekend after one of its engines failed while flying over the Gulf of Mexico, according to reports.
Politico reports Trump was heading back to Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, when the pilot decided to turn the plane around about 30 minutes into the flight. It had taken off from New Orleans after Trump had given a speech Saturday night at a Republican National Committee-hosted donor retreat.
Reports say the plane had traveled about 75 miles and was at 28,000 feet when it turned around.
Other passengers on the plane included Secret Service agents, support staff and some of Trump’s advisers, Reuters reports. A donor had allowed Trump to use the plane, a Dassault Falcon 900,
Trump returned to Florida by arranging to use a plane from another donor, the Post reports.
