Obituary

Donald H. McCawley, 89, passed away on July 20, 2022, of natural causes. Don was a 61-year resident of Lincoln, NE.

Don was born in Seneca, NE to John and Ella McCawley. He grew up in the sand hills of Nebraska, often telling stories of Valentine, NE and the surrounding area where he was raised and attended school and where he returned to often throughout his life.

After serving in the Army during the Korean conflict he married Betty L. Johnson (deceased) of Valentine and Lincoln, NE.

Donald H. McCawley was ordained to the office of Priest in the Aaronic Priesthood in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was also Received, Admitted, and Constituted as a Noble of the Mystic Shrine in the Sesostrist Temple in Lincoln, NE. He was an active volunteer with the Veterans Administration and the Shiner’s Hospital to shuttle Veterans and sick children to Omaha and Minneapolis.

Donald was preceded in death by two brothers, Jim and Glenn, both of California. He is survived by his brother Dale (Rosa) McCawley of Spokane, WA, and four children: Terry (Mary Jo) McCawley of Aurora, CO; Theresa (Neil) Ewing of Winner, SD; Tony (Maria) McCawley of Galena, MO and Tim (Michele) McCawley of Waukesha, WI; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 640 N 56th Street, Lincoln, NE 68504 on August 27, 2022, at 10 AM.

A visitation luncheon will follow. Internment will be in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Hanover, KS later in the day on August 27, 2022, at 4 PM.
