Donald Trump has staged a comeback in the race for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination but Ron DeSantis, the governor of Florida, remains the bookies’ favourite.
Polls conducted since the beginning of the year indicate that the former president, 76, has clawed back what had been a healthy poll lead over DeSantis after the midterm elections in November.
Most of the high-profile candidates endorsed by Trump have fallen in the polls where voters seem to have wavered in their dedication to the idea that Trump is the rightful winner of the 2020 election. DeSantis, 44, enjoyed a landslide victory in his home state.
