Donald Trump is preparing to return to Twitter.
The former US president is set to return to the biggest social media platform to boost his bid for the White House in 2024.
Trump was removed from Twitter, Facebook and Instagram following the US Capitol riots in 2021 but has regained control of his Twitter account following Elon Musks acquisition. The 2024 politician’s campaign is petitioning Meta – the parent company of Facebook and Instagram – to reopen Trumps account.
He told Fox News Digital: We’re talking to them (Meta) and seeing how everything works.
If they take us back, it will help them a lot, and that’s fine with me. But they need us more than we need them.
Trump has not returned to Twitter since Musk lifted his ban and prefers to update his supporters through his own site Truth Social.
However, he only has 4.8 million followers on Truth Social compared to 87.7 million followers on Twitter.
A source close to the controversial former president said he is likely to return to Twitter.
An insider told NBC News: He’s been talking about it for weeks.
