Ivanka Trump Seeks Delay in Donald Trump’s Fraud Trial – SheKnows

Ever since Donald Trump left the White House, Ivanka Trump has gradually distanced herself from her father and the family business. That sentiment seems so clear now that he, the former president, and siblings Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump are involved in a $250 million fraud case brought by New York Attorney General Letitia James. They, and the Trump Organization, have been accused of manipulating the value of their real estate holdings to make a profit.

Now, Ivanka is asking for a delay in the trial, saying her job description at the Trump Organization has nothing to do with the lawsuit. According to court documents obtained by the UK’s Independent, the complaint “does not contain a single allegation that Ms. Trump directly or indirectly created, prepared, reviewed, or certified any of the financial statements of her father”. He passes the money to his father and brothers and says that there is nothing to see in it. His legal team wrote, “Other individuals are responsible for those acts.”

He asked the judge to see the “unique” role he held at the company and why it did not fit the accusations. He left his job at the Trump Organization in 2017 to join the administration of Donald Trump, where he is currently facing a subpoena regarding his father’s role in the January 6, 2021 insurrection.

New York State Supreme Court Justice Arthur Engoron didn’t seem too sympathetic to her pleas, noting that the trial will begin on October 2, “come hell or high water.” His father’s legal team also requested a delay in the trial due to the “shocking volume” of allegations leveled against his business. It looks like neither Ivanka nor Donald Trump will get their wishes, but she’s drawn a line in the sand — and it looks like she’s not on her father’s side right now.
