Mr. Donald Wayne Lake, Sr., 85 of Walterboro entered into eternal rest on Sunday, May 21, 2023 at his residence.

Donald was born on July 18, 1937, in Orangeburg, South Carolina to Mr. Frank William Lake, Sr. and Sudie Ethel Talent Lake. Donald loves the Lord, one another and he encourages you to do the same. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Walterboro where he served as a deacon, union training teacher, Sunday school teacher and choir member. Donald also loved serving with Labor of Love, Nails in Hands, World Changers, Mission Serve of Walterboro and the South Carolina Army National Guard.

Survivors are: his wife, Altha O’Quinn Lake; children, Brenda Joyce Lake (Jesse) Geddings of Manning, Donald “Wayne” (Tammy) Lake, Jr. of Walterboro; step-children, Debbie (Gerald) Lemacks of Walterboro, June (John) Gooding of New Mexico, Charlene (Wendell) Lemacks of Walterboro, Wanda O’Quinn (Scott Cummings) of Walterboro, Kirk Douglas (Sarah) Rising of Tennessee and Sherry Rising Black (William Mules) of North Carolina; grandchildren, Samantha Kay Geddings (Brandon) Bethea of ​​Wedgefield and Tyler Wayne (Lois) Lake of Adams Run; step-grandchildren, Jeremy (Cathy) Lemacks, Katrina (Jesse) Drew, Andrea (Jordan) Johnson, Zach Gooding, Bryan (Emily) Lemacks, Gator (Victoria) Lemacks, Chance Palmer, Danielle Caldwell, Clay Crosby, Bryce (Lance ) Shuman, Carmin Black, Christian Black, Amanda Rising and Carlos (Anouk) Rising; great-granddaughter, Jessica Joyce Geddings DeLeon; step great grandchildren, Cody Drew, Wyatt Lemacks, Arden Johnson, Henry Johnson, Annabelle Lemacks, Ben Lemacks, Madden Lemacks, Cutter Lemacks, Cloie Eppes, Axel Eppes, Stone Eppes, Bree Caldwell, Titus Douglas, and Naomi Shuman; special loved ones including Pat DeLoach, Kay Burkett, David Beals, several cousins, other family members and friends.

Donald was preceded in death by wives Emma “Joyce” Fralick Lake and Susan “Irene” Rising Lake; parents, Frank William Lake, Sr. and Sudie Ethel Talent Lake; siblings, Margaret “Maggie” Elizabeth, Mary “Elaine” Catterton, Frank William Lake, Jr., Joyce Ann Fralin, Terry Talent “Ted” Lake and Betty Jean Beach; nephew, William Steven Fralin; nieces, Donna Beach Williams and Debbie Lake; and other family members and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Walterboro Mission Serve Project.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at The First Baptist Church of Walterboro, 124 South Memorial Avenue, Walterboro. The Reverend James W. Williams, Jr. and The Reverend David Jackson officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Hendersonville Highway, Walterboro. The family will meet friends at the sanctuary that morning beginning at 10 o’clock.
