New Yorker staff writers Susan B. Glasser, Jane Mayer, and Evan Osnos look at former President Donald Trump’s arraignment in Miami on thirty-seven federal charges, including obstruction of justice and willful detention of national security material. In a speech at his New Jersey golf club, the former President called the allegations and election interference by the prosecution and political persecution false and fabricated. With few exceptions, congressional Republicans defended him and attacked the Justice Department and the FBI; perhaps more surprisingly, nearly all of his opponents for the GOP Presidential nomination did the same. As Glasser says, Donald Trump has broken so many norms, sometimes we fail to notice when another one is happening. But I feel like this week marked another Rubicon.
