Former President Donald Trump issued a statement to the media holding Sen. responsible. Lisa Murkowski on the Biden administration’s decision to suspend action on lease drivers at the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.
“Senator Lisa Murkowski is costing the good people billions of dollars and billions of dollars by voting for those appointed to the Radical Left Biden, which led to the recovery of the ANWR drilling, which Alaskans are fighting for. happen in six decades, ”his statement says, under a“ Save America ”banner.
Save America is a political action committee set up to promote Trump.
He also changed his promise to work for Murkowski’s defeat, indicating that he will be going to Alaska for next year.
“I think Alaska voters will get to know him intimately for 15 months, and I’m there to campaign against him!” he wrote.
Murkowski, when he was a major Senate swing vote in 2017, got the ANWR drilling added to the Republican tax bill. The Trump administration held its first shelter rental sale in the last days of his administration, though they garnered little interest from oil companies.
Interior Secretary Deb Haaland last week suspended drilling leases.
Murkowski voted for Haaland’s confirmation. Trump’s statement didn’t mention it, but Sen. also voted. Dan Sullivan to confirm Haaland. Congressman Don Young crossed into Congress to urge senators at his confirmation hearing to support him. They were all ardent supporters of shelter drilling.
Trump has repeatedly threatened to campaign against Murkowski. He was one of the Republican senators who voted to convict him at his second impeachment trial. His angle on Monday – taking credit for allowing oil drilling in the shelter while blaming Murkowski for the Biden administration’s anti -drilling agenda – echoed a piece of opinion in the Anchorage Daily News last week, which wrote by Kelly Tshibaka, a Republican who filed for the Murkowski Senate seat
