James Campbell Co. retains new CEO, Donald E. Huffner Jr.

Local investment and real estate development firm James Campbell Co. has seen a new chief executive after a national search.

Kapolei’s master developer announced Monday that it has hired Donald E. Huffner Jr. to become president and CEO after the resignation of Timothy Brauer in January.

Huffner, who will begin Aug. 1, most recently heads a real estate investment and development firm in Florida.

Longtime local hotel industry executive David Carey, chairman of Campbell, called Huffner a perfect candidate.

“We are pleased he accepted the position and he is excited to join the company,” Carey said in a statement. “While we are based in Hawaii, JCC has grown into a diversified real estate company, and I am confident that Don will help to manage and grow our company and its investments.”

The company, formed in 2007 to succeed in the James Campbell Estate trust, is a major Hawaii owner and has real estate investments in 11 other states including Washington, DC

Stephen Hansen, a Campbell board member, has served as interim president and CEO since Brauer resigned.

Huffner is most recently president and CEO of Collier Enterprises, a Naples, Fla. Company dedicated to real estate development and growth including agriculture. Huffner’s experience also includes high -level executive positions at AIG Global Real Estate, Equity Office Properties and CB Richard Ellis on the mainland.

“It is an honor to be chosen to lead a national real estate company whose history and values ​​are firmly rooted in the state of Hawaii,” he said in a statement. “I look forward to moving to Oahu and becoming an engaged member of the community.”
