Donald Trump Town Hall: Five Talking Points

Former President Donald Trump held an event at city hall with Fox News host Sean Hannity during his visit to the US-Mexico border in Texas on Wednesday.

Trump criticized President Joe Biden’s policies about moving during travel and delivered statements in front of an unfinished section of the border wall. He offered additional criticisms during his conversation with Hannity-and aimed at other Republicans.

Here are five of the key talking points Trump discussed with Hannity on Wednesday night.

1. Trump decided about 2024

Trump has repeatedly indicated that he will run again for the White House in 2024. On Wednesday, he appeared to confirm that he had made his decision about a third presidential campaign.

“I have to ask, where are you in the process of,” Hannity began, continuing to say: “Without giving the answer, what is the answer, have you decided yet?”

“Yes,” Trump replied.

“It’s not what I want,” the former president later said. “The country needs it. We have to take care of this country. Not happy, constantly fighting, always fighting.”

2. Trump is targeting Mitch McConnell

The former president suggested Wednesday that the time had come for Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) to step aside.

“You need better leadership at the Senate level,” Trump said. “You need someone better than Mitch McConnell. Mitch McConnell can’t do the job anymore.”

Trump also criticized the Kentucky senator in a statement Monday, saying he “did nothing” to help topple the 2020 election results. However, McConnell remains one of the most powerful people in the Republican Party.

3. Trump raised his border policies

It was no surprise when the discussion turned to the Biden administration’s handling of border crossings. Trump called the approach his own administration, contradicting it with current policies.

“Nothing has been a better time six months ago and it has never been a worse time [than today], “Trump said.” We have the strictest security and you can come to our country legally. You know what else we are preventing massive drug, human traffickers – bad, evil human beings who are criminals removing their prisons in our country. “

4. Trump compared dealing with bipartisan infrastructure to appeasing Nazi Germany

The Bipartisan Infrastructure Framework endorsed by the White House and a group of Senate Republicans was strongly criticized by some in the GOP and Trump joined the chorus on Wednesday.

Trump defeated “RINOS” — Republicans only in name — and appeared to compare the treaty with British pacification policy to Nazi Germany in the 1930s.

“They’re walking into the White House […] and they met Biden: He didn’t know what was going on, “Trump said.” He sat and talked about the infrastructure-And finally, they walked out and they had an agreement. 5. A cognitive test for Joe Biden?

At one point in town hall, Hannity called Rep. Ronny Jackson, the former White House physician who led calls for President Biden to take a cognitive test. The Fox News host asked Jackson if he would do such a test on the president.

Trump once again said he “aced” a cognitive test, scoring 30 out of 30. Stated that he administered the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MOCA) in 2018, the same test that 14 wanted Republican lawmakers to take over by Biden.

The former president suggested that his successor would struggle to answer some of the questions. MOCA is designed to assess whether a person has mental disabilities that may indicate early signs of dementia.

“He won’t get the last 15 right, certainly not the last 10, I can tell you,” Trump said.
