The 23-year-old influencer gives a special nod to the late singer, who died in 2001 in a plane crash, in collaboration with designers Roberto Cavalli to recreate the look she wore to her last VMAs, where she won the women’s music video of the year.

I never thought I’d be able to wear this, much less be at the VMAs, the Filipino influencer wrote on Instagram. When they said I could wear it, I literally cried in disbelief. I love Aaliyah and feel so honored to be able to wear her 21 years after her. We love you.
There’s no doubt that these awards are iconic, but Rock has definitely put his own twist on the look. Instead of pairing a yellow and black zebra print dress with black stilettos like Aaliyah did in the beginning, she teamed it with thigh-high leather boots to add some edge.

As for how this extraordinary moment happened? In an interview with Variation, the beauty guru revealed that she worked with designers to borrow dresses from the archives.
